If you live in Pennsylvania, you may be eligible for additional healthcare coverage. The Medical Assistance for Workers with Disabilities Program (MAWD) is a public health insurance program available to people with disabilities ages 16 to 64 who work and receive compensation for their work, but whose income and resources do not exceed the established limits.
Those who are eligible for this program receive full medical assistance benefits by paying a monthly premium of 5 percent of their countable income. MAWD can be your only insurance if you currently have no healthcare coverage, or it can be a secondary insurance to supplement existing coverage from Medicare or another program.
