Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano will start adding employees’ and attorneys’ preferred pronouns to their email signatures in a move to further embrace diversity in the workplace. The policy change coincides with the celebration of National Diversity Day on Oct. 4.

The firm’s partners and executives stress that getting diverse perspectives and fresh insights helps it better connect with its clients, who come from all walks of life. It also helps the firm deliver innovative legal solutions to clients’ most pressing problems.

The addition of preferred pronouns is the latest move by Pond Lehocky to ensure that diversity and inclusion are deeply ingrained into the workplace culture. The firm has focused on initiatives promoting education, communication, empathy and support. The firm recognizes that being thoughtful about the way pronouns are used is a simple but necessary step toward becoming a more effective ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.

With Diversity Day approaching, the firm is continuing to identify ways to promote diversity and inclusion. It is particularly important for the firm now that it practices employment discrimination law. The lessons learned during pride month will not only help staff members better connect with clients, it will help them be better advocates for LGBTQIA+ community.

Meanwhile, Pond Lehocky has made significant strides to support diversity and inclusion in the legal community—more than two-thirds of its staff, 58 percent of its managers and 45 percent of its attorneys are women. In addition, three-fifths of Pond Lehocky’s executive team are women.
