Pond Lehocky attorneys help serve 245 meals to homeless men

Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano associates Alexis Handrich, Ruxandra Osgood, Kathryn Luchansky and Jason Kaner joined the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section in serving lunch at the St. John’s Hospice Nov. 21.

Pond Lehocky partnered with other workers’ compensation firms to co-sponsor the lunch, which served a Thanksgiving spread complete with ham, meatballs, pasta, fresh bread, green beans and Tastykakes. The volunteers served 245 homeless men and had enough leftovers for numerous to-go containers for men who were unable to attend the lunch.

Run by Catholic Social Services, Saint John’s Hospice is a shelter for homeless men in Center City Philadelphia. It provides shelter to more than 25 homeless men per year. It also provides more than 325 meals each weekday, along with case management assistance, on-site medical aid, showers and mailroom facilities.

The Philadelphia Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section was established in 1995 to address the specialized needs of lawyers practicing workers’ compensation law. It provides opportunities for lawyers to learn, hone their skills and serve the community.

Handrich is a 2002 summa cum laude graduate of Temple University and she earned her law degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2005. For the past 12 years, Handrich has focused her practice on workers’ compensation. She is certified by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Law Section as a Workers’ Compensation Law Specialist as authorized by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. She has been named to the Best Lawyers in America© list for each of the last two years and is the past co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section.

Osgood received her bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University followed by her law degree from Villanova University in 2014. She joined Pond Lehocky as an intern during her third year of law school and has been a workers’ compensation associate since graduating. She currently serves as the legislative liaison for the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section.

Luchansky and Kaner both recently passed the Pennsylvania bar exam and accepted positions as associates with Pond Lehocky, focusing on workers’ compensation and employment law matters. Luchansky earned her law degree from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, with a concentration in litigation and dispute resolution. Kaner graduated from the joint J.D./M.B.A. program at the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and the Villanova University School of Business.
