Pond Lehocky Partner Stephen Miller spoke Dec. 5 at a meeting of the Communication Workers of America, Local 13000, Unit 54, Branch 3. He discussed the legal rights union members have regarding workers’ compensation and Social Security disability benefits.

The CWA represents 700,000 workers nationwide in the telecommunications, airline, news media, television, manufacturing and health care industries, as well as in the public sector, education, law enforcement and other fields. Local 13000, Unit 54, Branch 3 is based in New Castle, Pa.

Miller joined Pond Lehocky in 2016. He leads the firm’s Pittsburgh office. After Just 18 months with the firm, he was promoted to partner—becoming the firm’s first partner outside of its founding members.

Since his admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2000, Miller has dedicated his practice to workers’ compensation law and has litigated countless cases throughout central and western Pennsylvania. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Washington & Jefferson College and received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Union outreach is important to Pond Lehocky, which prides itself as a fierce advocate for labor. For Pond Lehocky, it’s personal. Many of the firm’s attorneys and staff members come from union backgrounds and Sam Pond is the president of Union Services Access, a legal consulting services network for unions and their members.

In August, pro-labor media platform and service provider PhillyLabor recognized Pond Lehocky for its commitment to unions, naming it the Who’s Who in Injury and Injured Workers Advocacy Program Firm of the Year. The honor recognizes the firm’s “exemplary representation of injured workers and disabled citizens” from across the Philadelphia area.
