On Thursday, June 16, 2016, Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano was featured in the Jewish Exponent for its recent philanthropic benefit for USC Shoah Foundation.
The article showcased the firm’s event, which drew over 150 guests to donate and hear about the organization’s mission. USC Shoah Foundation Executive Director Dr. Stephen D. Smith and IWitness Video Challenge winner Ruth Hernandez both addressed the crowd. The event raised more than $100,000 to support the foundation’s educational and action-based efforts against genocide.
Managing Partner Sam Pond is a member of the organization’s Next Generation Council, which focuses on spreading awareness and ensuring financial support of the foundation.
“I’m involved because I’m a citizen of the world and a human being,” Pond told the Jewish Exponent. “Short of a nuclear war, human genocide is something that is constantly affecting us and it can be reversed.”
USC Shoah Foundation was founded by Steven Spielberg in 1994 after directing Schindler’s List. The foundation is dedicated to making audiovisual interviews with survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust and other genocides into a compelling voice for education and awareness. Per year, more than 6 million people view testimony in its Visual History Archive from 63 countries and 39 languages.
