From Behind the Scenes to the Courtroom Floor: New Disability Attorney Pursues Passion for Advocacy

December 10, 2014

Nakeshia D. Baptiste

We proudly welcome Ms. Nakeshia D. Baptiste as the latest Social Security disability attorney to join the firm. Ms. Baptiste has an extensive educational background as she holds a J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law, a master’s in business management from Webster University, and a bachelor of arts degree in both philosophy and political science from Coastal Carolina University.

All of her degrees represent her three core interests - advocacy, leadership and the law. She carried these passions with her at her prior job as disability adjudicator for the Social Security Administration. There, Ms. Baptiste was able to change others’ lives from an objective point of view, but she wanted a better way to advocate for the disabled.

“As a Social Security disability attorney, I am given the opportunity to combine my passion in assisting people who are truly in need through one of my favorite aspects of the law, which is advocacy,” she said. “It is rewarding to know that hard work and advocacy can make a difference in the lives of those you represent. Being on the same side of the table with a Social Security disability applicant allows me to do something I could not do as an adjudicator—advocate for their livelihood.”
