Attorney Nick Liermann Speaks about Team Foster on CBS News

Veteran and Associate Nick Liermann was recently featured on CBS News for his charity, Team Foster, which organized the Foster 100 Bike Ride this past Saturday. This is the fourth year that the Foster 100 Bike Ride has taken place and, according to Liermann, Team Foster is hoping to reach a goal of $300 per rider, which sets a donation goal of $30,000 from all 100 riders.

Team Foster was founded in 2014 to honor Captain Erick Foster, a friend of Liermann who was killed in action. Team Foster raises money to partner service dogs with veterans suffering from combat-related disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Since service dogs are not funded by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), insurance companies, or the federal government, Liermann uses the money raised by his charity to provide service dogs to veterans in need.

“We founded [Team Foster] in honor of my buddy Erick Foster. He was about two things: pushing himself really hard, and taking care of his teammates, so that’s what we do,” said Liermann to CBS News.

Liermann served as a Captain in the U.S. Army as part of a Patriot Missile Battalion in the early 2000s and was responsible for the training and welfare of over 30 soldiers. He was deployed to the Middle East as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Parachutist Badge. His service includes tours served in Germany, South Korea and stateside.

CBS also featured two of the service dogs provided by Team Foster, Cookie Dough and Dyson, both of which are trained to help their owners by retrieving cell phones, calling for help, and providing companionship.
