Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano was recognized for its attorney diversity for the second year in a row in The Legal Intelligencer. The article highlights trends on Pennsylvania’s attorney demographics based on thorough annual surveys. In the past year, Pond Lehocky added three new female attorneys to the team, making the firm one of few Pennsylvania law firms with more female attorneys than male. Pond Lehocky is also the only plaintiffs law firm in the state with more than 10 lawyers where more than half the attorneys are women.
“The diversity of our team is absolutely related to the success Pond Lehocky has experienced in six short years,” said Associate Casey Schweppenheiser, who joined the firm in 2016. “Women and minorities entering the professional world want to work for organizations that respect and appreciate what it is that they bring to the table. I believe I am challenged and given the same opportunity for growth as every other attorney at PLSG.”
Erica Shikunov, an attorney who has also recently joined the firm, agrees. “Being an associate at the firm, I am able to experience the teamwork that goes into the litigation here and results in quality advocacy. The environment here is one of hard work and mutual respect, and I think that it truly shows both in the office and in the courtroom.”
Overall trends in Pennsylvanian law firm diversity have been relatively flat, despite the fact that the number of attorneys in the state are growing. Of Pennsylvania personal injury firms of at least four lawyers representing plaintiffs, 28% are women – the same proportion as 2015. According to The Legal Intelligencer’s diversity surveys over the last nine years, overall growth in the number of minority and female trial attorneys struggled to improve.
