$95,000 Settlement

January 27, 2014

A 27 year-old union laborer from the Philadelphia area suffered significant injuries to his head, back, left shoulder and eye after the floor beneath him gave way while he was working and a 2500 pound concrete slab swung into him, knocking him unconscious. David F. Stern filed a petition on the injured worker’s behalf because the employer refused to pay workers’ compensation benefits. Mr. Stern’s actions caused the employer to agree to recognize certain injuries, but Mr. Stern continued to fight for the injured worker to ensure that all of the injuries were recognized. He also filed a petition to secure payment of medical bills for a non-panel chiropractor on the basis that the injured worker had not been asked to sign a panel acknowledgment, binding him to treat with the panel within the first 90 days of his injury. Mr. Stern ultimately settled the case for $95,000.00, which included the payment of the contested medical bills.
