On Saturday, November 15, 2014, Pond Lehocky partnered with Gibson Temple Baptist Church for a Turkey Drive that fed more than 300 people in need.
Pond Lehocky attorneys and staff members provided 350 turkeys and baskets filled with all the necessities for a complete Thanksgiving meal to members of the Gibson Temple Baptist Church. The attorneys present also educated attendees about their rights to Social Security disability insurance.
Reverend Elizabeth M. Griffin, director of Missions Ministry, helped coordinate the event. She expressed her gratitude to the firm for its yearly commitment to the Turkey Drive.
“Using three words could best describe this event: connect, commit and compassion,” Griffin said. “The presence of Pond Lehocky’s volunteers made a difference. They were able to connect a faceto the assistance being received. They also understood there is a commitment to helping, not just by word, but through action. Compassion was shown to a community that usually is forgotten and overlooked in many areas. We thank Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano for stepping up and out to meet the community’s need. We expect even greater partnerships in the years to come.”
The firm has a rich history of charitable involvement as it sponsors scholarship programs, community groups, events for non-profits and holiday food drives every year. Starting out as a one-time event, the turkey drive is now a tradition that marks its third year. Pond Lehocky’s partners, attorneys and employees are thankful that they were able to join Gibson Temple Baptist Church in helping members of our local community this holiday season.
