How a Proposed New Rule Could Affect Government Whistleblowers
Filed in:
In a recent article on CNN.com, Pond Lehocky attorney Jeremy Abay stressed the importance of protections for whistleblowers in the workplace. A proposed rule under the current presidential administration may end these safeguards, which are designed to shield government employees reporting wrongdoing they’ve witnessed in the workplace. It remains to be seen if the rule is legally enforceable; however, the possibility of legal action could be a powerful deterrent to potential whistleblowers, Abay says.
Abay is uniquely qualified to speak on the topic. As Chair of Pond Lehocky’s Employment Litigation Group, he has more than a decade of experience protecting the rights of whistleblowers, gig workers, and other employees. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Rutgers Law School, where he teaches courses on Whistleblower Advocacy, Employment Law in the Gig Economy, Deposition Advocacy, and New Jersey Practice and Procedure.
