Spotlight on Scholarship Winner Suod Al Musharfi

At Pond Lehocky Giordano, we are honored to recognize another outstanding student through our 25 Days of Scholarships program. Suod Al Musharfi has achieved academic excellence in the face of incredible difficulty, and exemplifies the hardworking spirit that our award is meant to spotlight.

Born and raised in Oman, Suod has always been a strong student. When he graduated high school, his GPA landed him among the top 1% of students in his country—an honor which gave him the opportunity to study abroad in the United States. Now, Suod is a student at the Temple University College of Public Health, pursuing a B.S. in nursing on his way to becoming an RN. He has continued to excel: This spring, he earned a 4.0 GPA, placing him on the Dean’s List among the top students at the university.

In his application video, Suod spoke about what the scholarship would mean to him, as an international student from a low-income family. His quest for a better future in Philadelphia has put him far away from his emotional support system, which has been a struggle. He shared that this scholarship will help ease some of the financial burden on him, allowing him to concentrate more fully on his academic and career goals. But it has a deeper, more personal meaning as well: “It would show me that my story actually matters. That other people like you guys believe in students like me, who are trying their best to make a better future through education.”
