Meet the Pond Lehocky Disability Attorneys during Social Security Month: Andrea Burns and Connor Deverell

Pond Lehocky Disability is honored to introduce each attorney during National Social Security Month. Each week the firm will share a video interview between a Social Security disability attorney and founding partner Thomas J. Giordano, Jr. Giordano sat down with Andrea Burns and Connor Deverell to close out the month.

Burns has been practicing Social Security Disability law for over a decade and has covered more than 2,000 cases in her career thus far. She feels like the best part of her job is “being able to use the law to help people get what they need and deserve. Is there anything better?”

Like Burns, Deverell grew up in New Jersey and started with Pond Lehocky at the firms New York office. A few years ago, he took a big step and moved to California to run the firm’s entire west coast operation.

“There’s really nothing more satisfying to me than getting a win for one of our clients,” Deverell shared with Giordano. “Our clients are out of work. They’re suffering with their health, so to be able to get them some good news, get them some peace of mind, for me there’s really nothing more satisfying.”

Burns earned her bachelor’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University in 1998 and her law degree from Widener University School of Law in May 2003. She has represented thousands of clients at all levels of appeal for Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims. She also conducted more than 150 hearings before Administrative Law Judges and secured over $724,000 in back payments for her clients. Burns served as a corporate compliance and development officer for a non-profit health center in Mobile, Alabama where she ensured that policies and procedures were being followed in accordance with the Center’s Standards of Conduct. Prior to joining Pond Lehocky Disability, Burns was a volunteer attorney for a non-profit legal aid network in Mobile, Alabama where she represented SSI clients in court and completed pro-bono work.

Deverell earned his bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in French from the College of Charleston in 2009. He went on to receive his J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2012. He joined Pond Lehocky in 2015 and currently leads the firm’s west coast operation. Throughout his career he has won clients their Social Security disability benefits in more than 1,000 cases.  He is member of the American Association for Justice and has published in the AAJ journal.
