Spotlight on Success: Sebastien Snider Embodies the Spirit of Hard Work and Advocacy

This year’s scholarship recipient, Sebastien Snider, exemplifies these values in every aspect of his journey. Sebastien is a second year Reginaldo Howard Fellow at Duke University, where he’s pursuing a unique dual focus in chemistry and political science. But what sets Sebastien apart isn’t just his impressive academic credentials—it’s his clear vision for how he wants to use his education to serve others.
When asked what receiving this scholarship means to him, Sebastien spoke about two driving forces in his life: intention and ambition. These aren’t just words to Sebastien; they represent his commitment to purposeful action and his determination to break barriers in professional fields where, as he notes, “not many people look like him.” What resonates most deeply about Sebastien’s story is how his personal values align with the principles our firm was built on. He spoke passionately about the importance of “sticking up for the low guy and being a voice for those without”—a mission that mirrors our own commitment to advocating for injured workers who need someone in their corner. Sebastien understands that true advocacy comes from those who share the values of hard work and dedication. He recognizes that the last bastion of the working class isn’t found in large corporations, but in organizations like Pond Lehocky Giordano, that genuinely fight for workers’ rights. This perspective demonstrates a maturity and understanding that goes far beyond his years.
Like many of the workers we represent, Sebastien faces real financial challenges. His school recently decreased his financial aid package, creating additional pressure as he works to maintain his academic performance. Rather than letting this setback derail his dreams, Sebastien is taking on a part-time job to supplement his income—showing the same resilience and work ethic we see in our clients every day. Sebastien’s academic focus on both chemistry and political science reflects his ambitious goal to “bridge the gap between science and policy.” He wants to make complex information more accessible to people from backgrounds like his own—a mission that speaks to the heart of what we do when we help workers navigate complex legal processes and fight for the compensation they deserve.
Sebastien’s commitment to representation in professional fields reminds us why initiatives like our scholarship program matter so much.
