Sean Flaherty brings decades of experience in workers’ compensation and labor law to his role as Of Counsel for Pond Lehocky Giordano across the New England region. A former union ironworker with Local 7, Sean draws on his firsthand knowledge of construction and heavy industry to effectively represent injured workers navigating complex legal systems.
Sean began his legal career after graduating summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University and earning his J.D. from New England School of Law. During his studies, he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa International Honor Society, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence. He later gained prosecutorial experience as an intern with the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Since entering private practice, Sean has focused on representing clients in all stages of workers’ compensation litigation, from conciliations and conferences to formal hearings before Administrative Law Judges at the Department of Industrial Accidents. His practice also extends to Social Security Disability claims and employment matters, including cases involving workplace discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination.
Over the course of his career, Sean has held numerous leadership positions in legal and community organizations. He currently serves as President of the Taunton Bar Association, Past President and active Board Member of the Bristol County Bar Association, and Co-Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. He also sits on the Board of Directors for MassCOSH (Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health) and serves as Vice President of Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts, a nonprofit supporting the educational needs of children of injured workers. In addition, he has been a guest professor at New England School of Law and a frequent speaker on workers’ compensation topics.
Sean’s work has earned him broad recognition in the legal community. He has been named to Super Lawyers multiple years running and was previously recognized as a Rising Star for seven consecutive years. He is also a recipient of the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Excellence in the Law Award and has been honored by several legal organizations for his advocacy and client service.
His union roots, combined with his litigation experience and deep ties to the legal community, make Sean a trusted advocate for injured workers throughout Massachusetts and the broader New England area.
