Managing Partner Sam Pond Addresses His 2023 Justice Michael A. Musmanno Award

This year, Pond Lehocky Giordano managing partner Samuel H. Pond was named the recipient of the prestigious 42nd annual Justice Michael A. Musmanno Award. This award is a high honor that celebrates outstanding contributions to the legal profession, particularly where they concern areas of human rights, civil liberties, and social justice. Mr. Pond is the first workers’ compensation attorney to receive the award.

On October 5, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association (PTLA) presented the award to Mr. Pond in front of hundreds of Bar members, friends, and family at the historic Bellevue Hotel. Mr. Pond’s speech was preceded by words from PTLA president Alfred Carlson, the Honorable Frederica Massiah-Jackson, Governor Josh Shapiro, and Shanin Specter, another preeminent Philadelphia trial lawyer and Justice Michael A. Musmanno award recipient.

“It is an honor to receive this award and join the ranks of the previous honorees; I’ve always looked up to and admired them as being giants who have changed our society,” said Mr. Pond. “My partners and all the staff at Pond Lehocky Giordano are part of this honor since no one person can do our work alone, getting justice for those who have been injured and to fight employers and large insurance companies who refuse to honor their legal and often moral obligations.”
