Sam Pond Discusses Leadership on “The Game-Changing Attorney” Podcast
Filed in:
Recently, Pond Lehocky founding partner Sam Pond was interviewed on The Game Changing Attorney podcast. He and host Michael Mogill had a wide-ranging conversation that covered the leadership principles, growth strategies, and mindset that helped transform Pond Lehocky into one of the largest workers’ compensation and disability law firms in the country.
A central theme of the conversation is that growth requires delegation. Sam argues that law firms cannot scale beyond a certain point without building a true executive leadership team. He credits the firm’s success to empowering talented leaders, creating accountability, and trusting others to own key business functions.
He also believes deeply in the power of mindset. Sam argues that people have more control over their thoughts than they realize. He encourages leaders to:
- Avoid unnecessary worry
- Focus on what they can control
- Practice gratitude
- Stay physically active
- Maintain perspective
His philosophy is simple: fear and worry consume energy that could be spent creating opportunities and solving problems.
To end the episode, Michael asked Sam what he was most proud of in his life. “I think what I’m most proud of is the joy that my clients have given me, and what I’ve done to help that,” he replied.
