At Pond Lehocky Giordano, we are proud to recognize exceptional students through our 25 Days of Scholarships program. Bailey Mattson exemplifies the spirit of service, community, and lifelong learning that our program was designed to honor.
Bailey has always felt the pull to be a part of something bigger than herself, and to help people in all walks of life. So after graduating from Penn State this spring with a degree in biobehavioral health and a minor in biology, she enrolled in Drexel University’s accelerated nursing program, with the goal of making a difference in underserved communities through expert medical care, emotional support, patient advocacy, and education.
In her application video, Bailey cited personal experiences as part of her decision to pursue nursing. She watched her grandmother struggle with lung cancer, which took her in and out of hospitals. Throughout this ordeal, she saw that the nurses who cared for her grandmother weren’t just medical professionals, but also a source of friendship and compassion, which her grandmother needed during that difficult time. “I want to be someone that patients can trust, and who can listen to them and help them navigate their health with compassion and dignity,” she says.
Bailey’s focus on improving patient outcomes through compassionate medical care exemplifies our core values of service and community. By supporting Bailey, we’re proud to invest in the future of our medical professionals, and the people they help heal every day.
About the 25 Days of Scholarships
Since its inception in 2025, the 25 Days of Scholarships program has helped students across the country pursue higher education. Open to students attending a variety of accredited programs, including two-year colleges, four-year universities, and trade schools, these $1,000 scholarships aim to lessen the financial burden associated with higher education, enabling students to focus completely on their studies and the change they want to make in the world.
