Announcing the Second Annual 25 Days of Giving

Back by popular demand, Pond Lehocky kicks off its second annual “25 Days of Giving” holiday event as a way for the Firm, its staff and attorneys to give back to the local community and help national charities close to our hearts. We are volunteering, making cards and holiday packages, as well as donating gifts and funds to give back to those in need. Day 1

Wigs and Wishes: The purpose of Wigs and Wishes by Martino Cartier is to provide courageous women battling cancer with a wig at no cost and grant wishes to children fighting the disease. Day 2

Special Olympics: Special Olympics’ mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community. Cards for Hospitalized Kids: Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK) is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy & magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards. Day 4

Back on My Feet: Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. Day 5

Project HOME: The mission of the Project Home community is to empower adults, children and families to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, to alleviate the underlying issues of poverty and to enable all of us to attain our fullest potential as individuals and as members of the broader society. This year we will be volunteering at the Safe Haven Residence and collecting product donations from staff. Day 6

Child Promise: The mission of Child Promise Inc. is to support quality residential and educational services for children and youth. They are committed to fostering a sense of responsibility and accountability in children and youth by creating opportunities. This year we will be donating a Share the Care Package to a foster college student. Day 7

Pennsylvania SPCA: The PSPCA’s mission is to protect animals, prevent cruelty and to improve the health and quality of life throughout Pennsylvania. Omega Horse Rescue: Omega Horse Rescue, a non-profit horse rescue organization is committed to providing humane treatment for all equines through education, research and quality care.

Day 9

Alzheimer’s Association: The mission of Alzheimer’s Association is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

Day 10

Susan G Komen: Susan G Komen’s mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. This year we will be fundraising for Pretty in Pig Piglets and collecting staff donations. Day 11

WePac’s: WePac’s mission is to promote childhood literacy by engaging volunteers in Philadelphia public schools through re-opening and staffing libraries and academic mentoring. This year we will be working with WePac to help set up a school library, which will be opened in January 2019. Day 12

Families Forward: Families Forward’s mission is to provide information, advice, guidance, protection and shelter, originally targeted to travelers. They continue this legacy 100 years later by meeting the needs of Philadelphia’s homeless families. This year we will be inviting families to our office for a night of pizza, treats and making gingerbread houses. We will also have a former Eagle player at the event to take pictures. Operation Gratitude: Operation Gratitude seeks to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the U.S. Military and First Responder communities and provide volunteer opportunities for Americans to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation. This year we will be making cards and writing letters to our troops. Day 14

Lupus Foundation of America: The Lupus Foundation of America’s mission is to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through research, education, support and advocacy. This year we will be making a financial donation to the Lupus Foundation of America. Day 15

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest organization that supports research and advocacy for blood cancer treatment. The donations from our law firm fund further research to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.

Day 16

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: the Firm donated money to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which leads the fight against Type I diabetes through funding research, advocacy and accelerating access to therapies.

Day 17

Orthopedics at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital: Orthopedics at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, is a recognized leader – nationally and internationally – in the field of pediatric orthopedic medical care, surgery and research. They also treat partner Thomas Giordano’s children. This year we will be bringing toys to the orthopedic unit of the hospital to be distributed to the children. Day 18

Rock Ministries: Rock Ministries is a faith-based organization serving youth at risk in the inner city of Philadelphia, through mentoring, Bible study, activities and an organized sports program. Day 19

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Reach out and Read: Reach Out and Read is a nonprofit organization that gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. Day 20

Sidney Hillman Apartments: Sidney Hillman Apartments is a subsidized assisted living community for older adults or individuals with a physical disability. This year we will be providing the facility with treats for its residents to enjoy.

Day 21

No Kid Hungry: No Kid Hungry is a national organization helping to fight childhood hunger and teaching kids and their families to cook healthy, affordable meals. Pond Lehocky will be holding a bake sale with all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry. The Firm will also match the amount raised today.

Day 22

Team Foster: Founded by one of our attorneys and veteran, Nick Liermann, Team Foster raises money to partner service dogs with tri-state area veterans suffering from combat-related disabilities including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Day 23

National Stroke Association: Pond Lehocky made a financial donation to the National Stroke Association, which is dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of stoke by delivering education and programs focused on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and support for all impacted by strokes. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: Pond Lehocky provided a financial donation to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Salvation Army: This year, Pond Lehocky’s five partners are each a sponsor in the Angel Gift Giving program, which assigns each donor an “Angel” to give Christmas gifts to on Christmas day.
