Pond Lehocky joins thousands at rally to keep Hahnemann University Hospital open
Filed in:
Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano staff showed their support to union members and other demonstrators who rallied against the closure of Hahnemann University Hospital. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was among those who spoke at the rally, which was aimed at putting pressure on the hospital’s owners and state and local officials to find a way to keep the facility open.
Among those joining Sanders at the podium were Philadelphia Councilmember Helen Gym and officials from the Pennsylvania Association of Nurses and Allied Professionals, a labor union which represents many of the healthcare workers who will lose their jobs when the 495-bed for-profit hospital closes.
Sanders and the other speakers discussed not only the economic effects the job losses would have, but also the public health dangers posed by closing a hospital relied on by such a large part of the Philadelphia community.
Pond Lehocky staff handed out water and t-shirts at the rally to show support for members of PASNAP and other unions. The firm is a proud supporter of labor and unions, assisting with all of their legal needs.
