Kaio Carter is the Practice Chair for Pond Lehocky’s California Lemon Law Practice. He represents consumers across California whose vehicles have failed to live up to the manufacturer’s promises. He pursues the refunds, replacements, and civil penalties these drivers are owed under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act.
The son of a public-school teacher and lifeguard father and an immigrant mother from Brazil, Mr. Carter was raised to value hard work and service, while looking out for people who don’t always have someone in their corner. Those values anchor his approach to representing consumers.
Mr. Carter handles matters from initial demand through litigation and trial, and he refuses to let manufacturers wear consumers down. He understands that behind every claim is a person who simply wants the vehicle they paid for, or their money back.
He earned his law degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law, where he received the Dean’s Award in Gift and Estate Taxation and competed in moot court. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Decision Sciences, from San Francisco State University.
Before joining Pond Lehocky, Mr. Carter practiced at a leading national defense firm, where he handled complex civil litigation in state and federal court and developed a foundation in the discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation that high-stakes cases demand. Earlier in his career, he worked as a business analyst at several Fortune 500 companies, where he learned to dissect operations and manage cases like the business decisions they are. He now applies that same approach to resolving claims efficiently and maximizing recovery for his clients.
