The holiday season is a time of giving, and at Pond Lehocky Giordano, our 25 Days of Giving campaign allows us to do just that—amplify the spirit of generosity and support the communities that inspire us daily. Each year, we partner with 25 incredible charitable organizations, extending our commitment to community engagement beyond the courtroom. For a full list of those organizations, check out our introductory blog for our 8th annual 25 Days of Giving. Today, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on the first five charities in this year’s campaign: No Kid Hungry, the Pennsylvania SPCA, Aiden’s Helping Hands, Lisa’s Army, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

These organizations represent a diverse array of missions, all tied together by their dedication to making the world a better place. Let’s explore the profound impact of their work.

1. No Kid Hungry: Ending Childhood Hunger in America

Hunger is a stark reality for millions of children in the United States, but No Kid Hungry is on a mission to change that. Launched by Share Our Strength in 2010, this national campaign fights to ensure every child has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. Through innovative programs and partnerships, No Kid Hungry provides critical resources like school breakfast programs, summer meals for kids, and education for families about affordable meal preparation.

What makes this organization truly unique is its bold, collaborative approach. By leveraging diverse ideas and innovative strategies, No Kid Hungry not only feeds children but also addresses the systemic issues that perpetuate hunger and poverty. Every dollar donated fuels this transformation, making a lasting impact on the lives of countless families.

2. Pennsylvania SPCA: Protecting Pennsylvania’s Animals

For over 150 years, the Pennsylvania SPCA (PSPCA) has been a beacon of hope for animals in need. Operating independently of the ASPCA, the PSPCA focuses exclusively on protecting animals and preventing cruelty within Pennsylvania. With four physical locations and a Humane Law Enforcement Department that covers 18 counties, the PSPCA is uniquely positioned to make a local impact.

By supporting the PSPCA, donors help rescue animals from neglect and abuse while funding lifesaving programs like medical care, adoption services, and humane education. Whether you’re an animal lover or an advocate for justice, partnering with the PSPCA means ensuring a brighter future for Pennsylvania’s furry friends.

3. Aiden’s Helping Hands: Supporting Families Facing Osteosarcoma

For families affected by osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, Aiden’s Helping Hands offers a lifeline. Named in honor of a young warrior, this organization funds critical research while directly supporting families navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

From financial assistance to creating positive, joy-filled experiences for children in treatment, Aiden’s Helping Hands goes beyond medical care to enrich the lives of young patients and their families. By fostering hope and resilience, this charity turns pain into purpose, shining a light on a path toward a cure.

4. Lisa’s Army: Comfort for Cancer Warriors

Lisa’s Army was born from the selfless vision of Lisa Loonstyn-Golden, who, while battling ovarian cancer, dreamed of comforting others facing similar challenges. Today, her legacy lives on through personalized Comfort Care Packages that bring joy and relief to cancer patients.

Each care package, worth approximately $600, is a treasure trove of thoughtfully chosen items—iPads, BEATS headphones, journals, and personal care products—that help patients stay connected, entertained, and comfortable during treatment. Lisa’s Army serves as a testament to the power of compassion, reminding us all that no one fights alone.

5. Muscular Dystrophy Association: Empowering Families and Advancing Science

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has been a cornerstone of hope for families living with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular diseases for decades. As the largest source of funding for neuromuscular disease research outside the federal government, MDA drives groundbreaking advancements in treatments and therapies.

But MDA’s mission goes far beyond research. From comprehensive care at its nationwide network of MDA Care Centers to community education programs and advocacy efforts, this organization supports families every step of the way. MDA’s innovative platforms, like the MOVR data hub, revolutionize healthcare outcomes, ensuring that families not only live longer but also live stronger.
