The holiday season inspires us to give back to those who make a difference, and at Pond Lehocky Giordano, our 25 Days of Giving is a cornerstone of that commitment. This year, we’re proud to partner with 25 incredible organizations to extend our mission of supporting communities far beyond the courtroom. For a full list of those organizations, check out our introductory blog for our 8th annual 25 Days of Giving. Today, we’re excited to highlight the next five charities in this year’s campaign: the National Brain Tumor Society, the Mike Tilley Nation Foundation, Unite for HER, As I Plant This Seed, and the Lupus Foundation of America.
Each of these charities plays a vital role in improving lives through advocacy, education, and direct support. Let’s take a closer look at the profound work they do.
1. National Brain Tumor Society: A Legacy of Advocacy and Research
For over 30 years, the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) has been a leader in advancing research, improving treatment options, and advocating for patients with brain tumors. With over $38 million in research grants awarded, NBTS has fueled groundbreaking discoveries to bring us closer to a cure.
NBTS’s commitment extends beyond the lab. Through nonpartisan advocacy efforts, the organization drives policy changes that benefit patients and increase research funding. By uniting donors, volunteers, and researchers, NBTS amplifies the collective voice of the brain tumor community, ensuring no one faces their journey alone.
From its origins in the 1980s to its ongoing leadership today, NBTS remains steadfast in its mission to defeat brain tumors and support families navigating this difficult diagnosis.
2. Mike Tilley Nation Foundation: Promoting Awareness for Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer has become one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in younger adults, but the Mike Tilley Nation Foundation is determined to change that. Founded in honor of Mike Tilley, this organization raises awareness about young-onset colorectal cancer and equips individuals with the knowledge to advocate for their health.
Through education campaigns and community outreach, the foundation highlights the importance of early detection and regular screenings. By encouraging conversations about symptoms and preventive care, the Mike Tilley Nation Foundation empowers people to take charge of their health and reduce the devastating impact of this disease.
3. Unite for HER: Empowering Breast and Ovarian Cancer Patients
When Sue Weldon founded Unite for HER in 2009, she envisioned a community where individuals affected by breast and ovarian cancers would have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Today, Unite for HER fulfills that vision by providing integrative therapies, educational tools, and emotional support at no cost to patients.
Through personalized wellness programs, patients can explore therapies like acupuncture, yoga, counseling, and nutrition education—enhancing their overall well-being alongside traditional treatments. Unite for HER also fosters a compassionate community, creating a safe space for people of all identities to find comfort and empowerment during their cancer journey.
4. As I Plant This Seed: Cultivating Change in Communities
Rooted in the belief that every child deserves the resources to succeed, As I Plant This Seed was founded in 2012 to empower youth and families through education, skill-building, and community engagement. Under the leadership of Ryan Harris, the organization has grown to serve hundreds of participants annually, offering transformative programs that inspire personal growth and positive life changes.
From mentoring and educational workshops to major community events, As I Plant This Seed creates opportunities for individuals to build a brighter future. By investing in the next generation, the organization sows the seeds of hope, resilience, and achievement.
5. Lupus Foundation of America: Leading the Fight Against Lupus
For over 40 years, the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) has been a driving force in the fight to end the brutal impact of lupus. Through innovative research, education, and advocacy, LFA works to improve the quality of life for the millions of people affected by this chronic autoimmune disease.
The organization’s achievements are groundbreaking: over 400 research studies funded, $550 million in federal funds stimulated, and millions of individuals supported annually through its programs. By accelerating diagnosis, expanding access to treatment, and advocating for effective therapies, LFA is changing the future for lupus patients and their families.
