Many of these first responders fall into high risk categories for Covid-19. After 19 men hijacked four commercial airliners and crashed them into both World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and a western Pennsylvania field, the traumatized American public vowed to “never forget.” Last year, the victims’ compensation fund for those who dies and were sickened by the attacks was extended after a long legislative battle. Now, as the global pandemic persists, first responders are calling for additional coronavirus funds.
