Prior to his decision to attend law school, Mr. Taylor J. Cohen realized his passion for the protection of workers’ rights by obtaining both a master’s and bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University’s School of Labor and Employment Relations. Mr. Cohen then went on to earn his law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2016, graduating with honors. While in law school, his coursework and electives focused on workers’ rights issues. In his final semester he prepared a guided research paper addressing the use and impact of surreptitious video surveillance in workers’ compensation claims. As a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, Mr. Cohen was selected to represent Temple at the Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition.
Before joining Pond Lehocky, Mr. Cohen clerked for two federal agencies responsible for interpreting and enforcing a range of labor and employment statutes focused on the protection of workers’ rights. After his first year of law school, Mr. Cohen interned with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in Washington, D.C. In his second year, he served as a legal intern for the U.S. Department of Labor in Region III of the Office of the Solicitor, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Joining Pond Lehocky as an intern in the spring of 2016, Mr. Cohen conducted research and analysis on workers’ compensation systems across the United States, and Pennsylvania workers’ compensation legislation before joining the firm as a full-time associate.
Mr. Cohen, a Rubin Public Interest Law Honor Society Fellow, strongly believes in giving back to the community. He has participated in the Feds Feed Families Campaign and regularly volunteers with the Centre County Special Olympics as a tennis coach for competing athletes.
Mr. Cohen’s time as a member and captain of Penn State’s Division One Varsity Men’s Tennis Team provided him with the leadership, teamwork, and time management skills necessary for the rigorous, competitive, and urgent nature of workers’ compensation practice. As a member of the Pond Lehocky team, Mr. Cohen looks forward to contributing to the protection of workers’ rights, championing the needs of injured workers.
